From inside Lady Liberty's crown, you'll enjoy a perspective few visitors ever get to see, along with views of New York Harbor and the surrounding skyline.
Statue City Cruises is the only authorized provider for tickets and access to Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
Crown Access Information
- The National Park Service recommends that crown visitors have no significant physical or mental conditions that would impair their ability to complete the climb to the crown.
- Visitors are limited to 10 minutes inside the Crown.
- Accessing the Crown requires climbing 354 total steps, including 162 narrow steps from the Pedestal to the Crown.
- There is no elevator access from the Pedestal to the Crown platform.
- Children must be at least 42 inches (107 cm) tall and able to climb stairs independently.
- All minors must be accompanied by an adult. One adult is required for every four children.

- Liberty State Park is the departure point from New Jersey. The ticket office is located within the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal in Liberty State Park.
- The Security Screening Facility and ferry departure is located behind the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal.
- Ample parking for cars and buses. Easy access from the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 78.
- We recommend that you include ample time and maintain a flexible schedule to include boarding the ferry and clearing the Screening Facility.

Ticket Timing
- The time printed on your ticket is your scheduled security screening time. It is NOT a guaranteed ferry departure time or Crown entry time.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before to allow ample time for security screening and boarding. Security screening or boarding wait times can range from little to no wait to over one hour during peak seasons, holidays, and other high-demand periods.
- Priority entry of 2 PM or later will not allow enough time to visit Ellis Island. Please plan your visit accordingly.

Ticket Pick-Up & Wristbands
- All Crown visitors must pick up their tickets and wristbands in person at the Box Office located in the Central Railroad of New Jersey at Liberty State Park. Crown tickets must be picked up before entering the Security Screening Facility or boarding the ferry. All ticket holders must be present at the Box Office to receive wristbands. Visitors without wristbands will not be permitted to enter the Crown.
- Only four Crown tickets per household (or credit card holder) are allowed.
Names are printed on tickets and cannot be changed or transferred.
The credit card holder must be present to pick up the tickets.
Visitors must present a matching photo ID when accessing the monument (except minors without ID). - Only one Crown reservation is allowed within a six-month period.
Security & Storage
- All visitors must pass through airport-grade security screening before boarding the ferry and again before entering the Statue of Liberty National Monument.
- Lockers are NOT available at the security screening facility before boarding.
- Items such as bags, backpacks, food, drinks, and strollers are not permitted inside the monument. Self-service lockers are available for $0.25 near the monument entrance on Liberty Island. A quarter is required.
- All items must be retrieved after your visit to the Crown. The National Park Service is not responsible for valuables placed in lockers.
- Water in a plastic bottle, a phone, a camera, and medicine are the only items you are allowed to carry to the crown.
Refunds will be provided if cancellations are made 24 hours prior to visit date. Refunds will also be provided if the islands are closed for security, safety or weather reasons. Unused tickets will not be refunded.
